Yes, i agree Steve! and by building our pride in Nyepi, hopefully the young generations of Bali can become inspired to change in a positive direction in a bigger way.

As for the politics, that change may still be far off – but i am optimistic for Bali (still skeptical for Indonesia, hahah :) If enough people care, it might be possible... if the government cares, it's 100% possible. The sad reality!

One day of Nyepi was probably effective 30 to 40 years ago and it probably served its purpose back then .. It reduces vehicle pollution by 0.27% over the whole years collective , with other forms of pollution probably not reduced by much. 7 days would probably be the minimum these days to allow enough time for us to slow down , let the internal static wind down and then drop into a more connected with nature and deeper self vibe. Unfortunately most of the biggest promoters / developers/ corruptors of the high static gimme gimme lifestyle would probably be off partying elsewhere. Of course we could limit their behavior and actions when they come back by proper & wise government guidance and controls , but in order to do that we would need to elect appropriate candidates to government office, something we have not been able to do so far ( worldwide ) .
